Disability Income (DI) insurance replaces a portion of earned income lost due to disabling acciedent or illness. MetLife's policies are desinged to provide a monthly income to help pay for personal living expenses, such as mortgage payments, car payments, utilities, and food.

How disability income insurance policies are priced:

The cost of coverage is influenced by your gender, age, medical history, benefit amount, occupation and optional riders.

How would a disability affect your ability to earn a living?

If you are like most people, your earning power could come to a halt.... but your bills and living expenses would continue.

Owning a disability income insurance policy from MetLife helps provide a way to help maintain your lifestyle if you become sick or hurt and can not work.

Like most disability income insurance policies, MetLife’s policies contain certain exceptions, waiting periods, reductions, limitations and terms for keeping them in force. Ask your representative about the complete costs and details. These policies provide disability income insurance only. They do NOT provide basic hospital, basic medical or major medical insurance as defined by the New York State Insurance Department. The expected benefit ratio for these policies is at least 50%, depending on the policy. This ratio is the portion of future premiums, which MetLife expects to return as benefits, when averaged over all people with the applicable policy.
